The Blansko valley is intimately tied to the earliest days of hydro engineering. At the beginning of the 20th century, Prof. Viktor Kaplan—the inventor of the Kaplan turbine—collaborated directly with the predecessors of our current Brno and Blansko design team to bring his revolutionary machine to life. Today, that exact heritage drives our modern R&D.

Blansko is home to Litostroj's independent, state-of-the-art testing laboratory. Depending on project requirements, new hydraulic profiles are validated through advanced CFD numerical analysis and, where appropriate, physical model testing. This combination of digital simulation and experimental verification enables us to accurately assess hydraulic performance, energy characteristics, and dynamic behavior.

Our laboratory operates in strict accordance with the international standard IEC 60193. We routinely invite clients and third-party inspectors to our Czech facility to witness the physical proof of their guaranteed turbine efficiencies prior to final manufacturing.
